Unless you’ve been living under a rock in the past weeks, you know about the PPAP meme. OR, at the very least, have heard of it.
I’ll admit I had been seeing it all over the place but didn’t feel like actually looking into it. But it’s one of those things – you can run, but you can’t hide.
So, PPAP.
“Pen Pineapple Apple Pen” (Japanese: ペンパイナッポーアッポーペン, PenPainappōAppōPen) is a music video by Piko-Taro (ピコ太郎), a stage persona of the Japanese professional comedian Kosaka Daimaoh (古坂大魔王).[1] In a similar vein to PSY’s Gangnam Style, the video widely circulated on social media after being released on YouTube in late August 2016.
Worse than Gangnam Style, yet probably stickier. In case you’ve managed to block it from your memory, or you haven’t seen it. Here you go.
Pardon me for exposing you to that. You’ll probably suffer for a couple of hours – even days – hearing the song AND seeing the dude in your mind.
But, here’s something for you dorks. It might make up for all that yellow and black…
The Chemist’s PPAP.
Because why sing about pens, pineapples, and apples when you can sing about Phenylpropylaminopentane?
Well, this guy – part genius, part adorkable – put his own spin on the PPAP meme and sang the process of preparing Phenylpropylaminopentane, a drug used in Alzheimer research.
Useful may be relative, but I bet this PPAP is a tad more useful than fruit and a writing implement.
